On the Road to Ta Mao Zoo

These are some of the things we saw on the road to the Ta Mao Zoo. The Zoo is just about 20 kilometers out of Phnom Penh. These pictures are typical scenes seen often as you travel. It is never boring. Many siblings give their other sibling a ride to school on their bike. The woman in the cone hat is probably headed out to work in the rice fields. The bottom right picture is of a lampahng, (I'm not sure I said that right!). It is like a moto outdoor bus. Many women catch this on the way to work in the factories and home again.

One of my favorite pictures here is the man riding on the hay wagon behind the driver. I don't know how he manages to sleep, but I guess it's a gift. If you look close, there are several others sound asleep at the top. They are waving to Varci and Kali. The bottom right hand is kind of like a drive-in gas station for motos. You see these roadside gasoline stands pretty much all over Cambodia. We went to the zoo, I think on July 14th.
