The church is sponsoring measles shots to irradicate measles from Cambodia. They have done this with various government ministers and NGOS. The Church is working on this throughout the worlds. LDSC asked if all missionaries could help the branches deliver flyers advertising this free campaign for measles shots for children 1-6 years I believe. We all met the same day in February. The 5th of February it was. We went to a nearby branch building just a street away where two branches were meeting. The top picture and left hand picture are of the 10th branch. LDSC gave every branch polo shirts and a t-shirt for many who participated. All got hats just not the polo shirts. They also gave money to buy some kind of food for all who participated. The Vietnamese branch, the 10th, bought some kind of sweet rolls and a drink for all to eat before they left.
The 9th branch, Cambodian, had the above sister make rice and pork for all before they left. I'm sure they all had money left over to be turned back because they had to submit receipts! The picture on the bottom left is the acting branch president. His name is President Mok Mai. He is also a counselor in the District Presidency. He is a good leader and always has a smile on his face!
On our little trip delivering our share of the flyers, we saw the above scenes. Poinsettas in February. These are the first live poinsettas I have seen in Cambodia since we got here. It seemed refreshing to see them, so I had to take a picture. Scott had his haircut one time in a station like this for $1. The shop where I went on Saturday, Feb 26th, at least was in a little building and had matching chairs!
The bottom left is a car wash...a by-hand car wash! They did it fast and it was beautiful work ! We met up with Sister Mai whose ddad is the 9th branch president and her non member friend. It was a good experience and a lot of fun to meet so many people. Most that had kids were very interested in it all. Especially the free part!
