President Smedley greeting the new missionaries as they come out of the airport door.
On October 7 th, this group of missionaries arrived. We are so thrilled with this group of missionaries. We love receiving New missionaries. They already speak the mission language quite well! In case you can't tell, most of them have been football players and they can eat pretty good! It is nice to have people who appreciate my food! The little guy in the middle is Elder Tran (say Chun) from Hanoi. He is called to our mission and came in at the same time as the Provo MTC Elders. His plane from Hanoi was supposed to arrive 20 minutes after the Provo Elders, but it came in really early. They all walked out the door together, and they didn't know him and Elder Tran didn't know them. He went to the MTC Manila the next day, Friday.
Left to right missionaries: Elders Matthews (Assistant), Michelson, Faught, Oleson (say Olson),
me, President Smedley,Elders Tran, Wilcox, Weller, Hurwitz (New Assistant).

Going top left to right, left to right: Elders Hill, Oleson,Faught, and Wilcox.

The new Elders checking out the mission board on who their new companion/trainer will be. They all seemed pleased about where they were going.
Hi Sister Smedley, I am Elder Hill's mom. I love the blog! It is so nice to just see a picture of Dillon and know he is OK! Dillon is my first missionary and I am still struggling with him being gone, even though I know he is in the right place!
ReplyDeleteHi and Sok-baay? Sister Smedley.
ReplyDeleteI am Elder Weller's mom. I heard this blog from Elder Klinefelter's mother. She took a picture of those 6 Elders at the Taipei Airport when she was on the way to Cambodia and she sent it to all 6 Elders' families which was so greatful. And even more, she and Elder Klinefelter went to Battambang where my son has been sent and they met our son again there, had a lunch together, and took some more pictures of him and she sent them to us. It was just great. It was so great to see his smile :)
From the all those pictures and blog, we greatly feel the comfort and we are so excited to know what is happening in Khmae. Personally I am finally reaching to the point of understanding what the Mission (Mission call) is and Missionary work after 20+ later. But I am excited to work/help with my son in any ways I can.
By the way, I know Marsha Bjornn really well. What is the relation between you and her?
Anyway, thank you for watching and taking care of all the missionaries. We will be looking forward to looking and reading this blog so close! S'ra-lun.
